Louis Vuitton 2011 Sports Sunglasses?! Louis Vuitton 4Motion Sunglasses!

Louis Vuitton is known for luxury and the representation of wealth everywhere.  Their bags can be seen everywhere in the world and are coveted like mad in Asia.  People will wear rags just to be carrying a LV bag.  Sunglasses are not so much their forte.  They have had big hits with pairs like "Millionaire" and "Evidence" but there have been more misses than hits.  The new 4Motion sunglasses would be a miss for me.

4Motion has four styles - Air, Water, Fire and Earth.  This feels like a real stretch to me.  Louis Vuitton sports sunglasses just doesn't have that LV ring to it.


Of course nobody is going to be wearing these to actually play sports.  As they range in price from $640 - $720, I don't think anyone is going to be wearing them at all.

TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloIst and Oliver Peoples Optical

In the first collaboration we present here for 2011, Oliver Peoples is working together with designer Takahiro Miyashita for his "The Sololst" work.  They are exquisite.

Angelina wears Tom Davies sunglasses in 'The Tourist'

Shining the spotlight on London glasses designer Tom Davies, Angelina Jolie wears his Limited Edition frame in ‘The Tourist’.

Angelina is seen on-screen wearing a pair of custom-made sunglasses by the British designer, whose bespoke studio is based in south west London.

Her sunglasses, an oversized retro-style, are from a 'limited edition' collection of 200 pairs costing £220 upwards.

Muse front man Matthew Bellamy also has a penchant for Tom Davies sunglasses, and has been wearing them on tour. Rowan Atkinson and Kevin Spacey are also fans of the young Brit super stars shades.

Will.I.Am parties 'til late in sunglasses after The X Factor

The fight for X Factor moved a step closer as the show reached the semi-final last night. The remaining five acts each performed two songs in a bid to win votes from viewers. Last night also included live performances from the Glee Cast, former and X Factor winner Alexandra Burke. The Black Eyed Peas were also on stage to share an upbeat performance of their new single ‘The Time (Dirty Bit)’.

Will.I.Am and the rest of The Black Eyed Peas parties in London afterwards and rounded their evening off at Whisky Mist, partying – still in their sunglasses - well into the early hours. Not cool.

Mike Posner - Please Don't Go Sunglasses

Mike Posner is all over the charts again with this sweet little ditty called "Please Don't Go".  He's a real softy and might just got to the top again with this one.


In a few scenes he's driving around in a very carefree way with a nice blonde who is the only one bothered by the extreme sunshine.  She wears sunglasses.  Her hair is blowing around.  They look like they are in California.  Maybe on the same road that Katy Perry was for "Teenage Dream".  Very similar videos.

Tron Legacy Sunglasses - Oakley and Disney in 3D

Tron is coming out soon and it's no surprise that the buzz is insane.  I've seen the first film and this one should be good for some nostalgia.  Not sure if it is going to be a good film.  I'm a little worried it's going to be too "Disney".


Oakley has collaborated with Disney for two pairs of Tron Sunglasses.  I do not yet know if they are in the film, but the idea is to wear the Oakley Limited Edition Tron 3D Gascan when you watch the film.  What a crazy idea.  

The price for the 3D Gascan is $150.00 and can be found on the Oakley site.

Tom Ford to design for H&M?

Is Tom Ford next in line to design a range for H&M?!

When we first heard about Jimmy Choo and Lanvin designing for the popular high street chain we could hardly believe it –so can we let ourselves believe that Tom Ford is about to jump on board the H&M gravy train?

The rumour follows the unveiling of images for the hotly anticipated Tom Ford womenswear collection, which launched to critical acclaim at New York Fashion week in September. Since then, every fashion magazine in the world has been clamouring to get samples of what promises to be the biggest fashion highlight of 2011.

But perhaps even more exciting is Ford revealing details of his second film project. Following on from the success of his debut film 'A Single Man', which featured an Oscar nominated performance from Colin Firth, the fashion designer has begun work on a brand new project.

Whereas his first feature-length film was based on Christopher Isherwood novel of the same name, Ford announced that his second foray into film will be a comedy with a completely
original script. Further details are scarce but be rest assured that his directorial follow-up will be as easy on the eye as his first.

Cassius Eyewear - MIES

Cassius Eyewear is a brand that launched only in 2008 but has gained some traction already.  They are definitely subtle in design and shape.  I've seen a few pairs before, but MIES caught my eye.  The brand is big on classic shapes and likes to keep the logo low-key.  You won't see big fake diamonds on the sides of these frames.  The coloring and shape speaks for itself.

MIES is an aviator shaped frame that has some excellent detailing.  If you look closely (click pictures) you'll see the pattern built into the temples and bridge.  It's this attention to detail which makes MIES different from you standard boring aviator.

Oh Mischa! You may fall short in the clothing department but at least you have a way with sunglasses.

As the star of ‘The O.C,’ she was considered one of the most beautiful girls in television, covering countless magazine covers. But is now having to resort to some shady ways of getting attention.

Dressed in a leopard print coat and a pink dress underneath an orange shirt, plus those bizarre butterfly shades, looked nothing short of ridiculous.

But while we disapprove of her seemingly endless line of eccentric and highly questionable outfits, when it comes to sunglasses, this girl has some seriously bold taste.

Which celeb has a shady secret?

Nicole Richie has made a name for herself as a fashion icon thanks to an appreciation for oversized sunglasses. But there is more to her penchant for sunglasses than an admiration for Audrey Hepburn.

The House of Harlow designer tells WWD, ‘When I wear sunglasses, it’s because I don’t wear makeup,’ she said. ‘I don’t know how to do makeup – it’s just not a part of my life…. Sometimes you need to put something on your face, and that’s why I tend to wear bigger frames. So I almost think of sunglasses as masks just to cover it up. And I think you can have fun with them.’

So she is only human after all.

Far East Movement - Like a G6 Sunglasses

As contrived as this track is, the beat is a lot of fun.  I can't figure out whether the beat or the wonderfully sweet Asian ladies are what it getting this song all the play it is .  It's not the sunglasses.

I've read around online that these sunglasses are made by Optic Remix.  I couldn't find any info on their website but this post is on their Twitter...

... so it's probably true.  As you can see in the Tweet these are only $10.

I like to think of myself as "Asian-conscious" but can anyone tell me what a G6 is?

Tom Ford to make another film

Following the success of his directorial debut A Single Man (2009), Tom Ford has told the London Evening Standard that he is planning another film.

He confirmed he was already thinking about the follow up but remained mum on details. "I'm not telling you anything about it," he said.

His moving from fashion to film made perfect sense given his eye for detail. However many initially doubted his directing his directing abilities. But Ford has excellent taste in lead actors as well as style, with Julianne Moore (above) and Nicholas Hoult as lead character roles. Consequently A Single Man won a BAFTA and an Oscar nomination thanks to Firth and his emotional portrayal of a middle-aged college professor mourning the unexpected death of his lover.

With the launch of his women's wear collection and another film in the works, 2011 is shaping up to the year of Tom Ford.

Fresh Colab Sunglasses Releases

In a change of style from what I'm used to, Colab has released a number of new styles.  They are more conservatively designed than what we've previously looked at from Colab eyewear.

I don't know if I like what I'm seeing here.  Don't get me wrong - I like the sunglasses - but some of the crazy colored zaniness is gone.  For me, Colab is a very fun brand who's focus in on originality.  Maybe Colab is doing what they did before - trying something new - however new for Colab is to be more like everyone else.
