Gavin and Zuma Rossdale sport matching shades

Gavin Rossdale and his son Zuma attended the world premiere of Gnomeo & Juliet last weekend. And to mark the occasion, Gavin dressed his tiny tot in some funky attire including matching shades. Perhaps to best bear the inevitable flashes of the paparazzi.

But they were not the only stars in brightly coloured sunglasses on the red carpet. Elton John and his partner David Furnish also sported novelty shades with Gnomeo characters on the frames. Cool or crazy? What do you think?

Tod's to restore the Colosseum

Three cheers for luxury accessories brand Tod’s, which will fund a £21.5million restoration of the Coliseum in Rome.

President of the Tod’s group, Diego Della Valle, said 'We believe that because the Tod’s Group is a strong global representative of ‘Made in Italy’, it is both an honour and our duty to contribute to the support of our country’s image and credibility, as well as its cultural heritage.'

The Coliseum is still a popular tourist attraction but has become damaged by pollution. It will remain open to tourists throughout the restoration.

We wonder what Tod’s will get in return for their generosity? Permission to place billboards of Tod’s sunglasses outside?

Aurevoir Paris

Yves Saint Laurent brought menswear to a close at Paris yesterday. Creative director Stefano Pilati played with volume by pairing slim trousers with blouson-style jackets and even capes, adding pops of colour via checks and bright polo necks.

With summer bearing upon us, we have put together a list of sunglasses that we would love to wear for our beach holidays. Spring Summer 2011 trends

Hold the phone – stock for Spring/Summer 2011 has arrived and is leaving us speechless.

The future is bright with vibrant colours and shapes. Pinks and purples for women, blues and greens for men. Leading the way for the season is Dior – John Galliano knows no wrong – with the sizzling hot Dior Ondine. This luxurious collection includes violet and mauve frames that are decorated in Swarovski crystals. They are gorgeous.

There is also the Tom Ford James in silver with brilliantly blue lenses. Summer is full of many
tempting shades - watch this space – but we have singled these out for their bright blue lenses, slick silver frame and oversized structure. Tom Ford sunglasses will take any outfit to the max. But we think they will look great worn with a light blue denim shirt, dark denim jeans and white plimsolls.

Baby Bloom has arrived

Congratulations to Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr on the birth of their baby son.

The supermodel gave birth at a Los Angeles hospital with Orlando and her family by her side. Both mother and son are said to be doing ‘very well’, according to his grandmother.

The couple has since posted an intimate photo showing their baby son Flynn, who weighed in at 9 pounds and 13 ounces.

Miranda has also revealed, “I gave birth to him naturally; without any pain medication and it was a long, arduous and difficult labour, but Orlando was with me the whole time supporting and guiding me through it. I could not have done it without him.”

Perhaps we should send Flynn a pair of Zoobug sunglasses. After all, it is never too early to wear
sunglasses.

Helena Bonham Carter stands out at Golden Globes

The 2011 Golden Globes market the return of old Hollywood glamour, with Helena Bohem Carter opting to cover up on the red carpet in vintage sunglasses.

Devendra Banhart at the Rainbow House

Devendra Banhart takes a break from his prolific career in folk music to spearhead Oliver
Peoples 2011 campaign. In a departure from last season’s fantasy theme, Oliver Peoples move from the fantastic to the provocative with a series of photos directed by acclaimed photographer Lisa Eisner.

Devendra poses with his real-life lover, set designer Rebecca Schwartz, and the intimacy of their relationship is captured openly on film while they lounge in the Californian sun wearing not very much at all.

Lisa says “We really wanted to find a couple who were in love and would allow us to be voyeurs in their relationship. Most people are not interested in having their intimacy on film. Devendra and Rebecca were beyond perfect, beautiful and fun together. They were not pretentious or guarded – they were real!”

The stylish duo are pictured in Oliver Peoples’ frames for the season ahead, frames heavily inspired by vintage fashion but enhanced with Oliver Peoples unrivalled style. Gucci Sunglasses 2011 Spring Summer - Runway Sunglasses

Gucci sunglasses, like those of many other big brands, are hit or miss.  Generally they go the safe route and save the more original frames for the runway.  Today we'll look at a few styles only seen on the runway and a few of the more common frames they have out for Spring/Summer 2011.

This is the first frame that caught my eye on from their photo section for 2011, however you won't find it in the list of available frames.  It's a shame, because it is one of the nicer frames they have now.  This begs the question, why display this frame when it's not for sale?  I know they want to generate interest for the season with some sharp frames.

These two frames are not bad looking but have a lot of G's all over them.  Though not terribly looking, I could do without the crazy branding.  GG 3160/S above is a sweet-looking cat eye shape, but I prefer minimal frames with this kind of style.

So why do so many brands show stuff at the show that you'll never be able to buy?

Romeo Beckham is rumoured to be designing sunglasses for Prince William and Kate Middleton for their upcoming wedding.

Prince William has reportedly chosen plain black sunglasses whilst Kate has gone for a more colourful frame.

Romeo Beckham has apparently signed up to create a range of eyewear for fashion conscious kids. He is also said to have already developed a real eye for fashion.

"He has strong opinions on what works and what doesn't, and has been badgering David and Victoria for months about designing his own sunglasses. It is no passing whim - Victoria said she'd only back the project if he was certain he wanted to do it" A friend of the Beckham family told the Daily Mirror.

While some top end designer brands – Ray-Ban, Carrera and Police – already offer kids’ sunglasses, there is still a gap in the market for designer shades for kids that are 100 UV protected and trendy.

Taking inspiration from his mother’s own eyewear collection, the range will be called RB and include a cool ‘RB’ motif.

Victoria and David Beckham are both said to be thrilled at his ambition. In March 2010, singer-turned-fashion-designer, Victoria told Grazia, "I think that my middle son thinks that he is going to take over. Romeo likes to get involved"

"He likes to go out in a suit with a bowler hat… he's a real fashion lover,’ she added.

We expect the aspiring fashion designer will call upon celebrity pals Suri Cruise and Willow Smith to model the frames. Not to mention eleven-year-old Brooklyn and five year old Cruz Beckham. And we thought we had a privileged upbringing.

Victoria Beckham tweets baby joy

Congratulations to Victoria Beckham who is expecting her fourth child in the summer.

Her husband David Beckham confirmed the news on Facebook, writing 'I've got some great news to tell you all. Victoria and I are expecting our fourth child this summer. The boys are very excited about the arrival of a new brother or sister.' And a spokeswoman for the couple confirmed they were 'naturally delighted'. Bless.

The sunglasses designer has three children already – Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz – but has made no secret of her wish for a little girl.

Victoria later tweeted 'Thank u so much for your kind and beautiful messages!!!we are all so happy and very excited!!!!!!x vb’

Take that paparazzi, Lady GaGa releases new camera glasses

Lady GaGa has been busy promoting her debut sunglasses collection yesterday. The singer unveiled her Grey Label line at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The pop star who famously sang about the paparazzi is now the proud owner of sunglasses which not only photograph whatever is in your field of vision, but then display it on a 1.5 inch LED screen on the lenses.

'This product will revolutionize how we see photos,' she said in a statement. 'Your images will no longer die a death on your cell phone or digital camera.'

Lady Gaga x Polaroid Sunglasses Colab - Technology and Fashion Freakout

So Lady Gaga was all over the airwaves yesterday being the surprise guest of Polaroid at CES in Las Vegas.  The Consumer Electronics Show often sees its share of celebrities, but this was unexpected.  Thankfully the focus was not on her meat dress this time.  The awkward product presentation ended up leading to the release of the Polarez GL20's.

Gucci launches 'Eye Want You'

Sorry, but how cool is this? Gucci has released a new Facebook application featuring sunglasses from the Gucci Eyeweb collection.

The application lives on the Gucci Facebook page and enables you to create and deliver your own personal messages to friends. “Eye Want You” allows you customise video messages from Gucci models wearing Gucci Eyeweb sunglasses. A total of 36 viral video clips are available from a
selection of six moods, plus new sunglasses for both men and women.

You can then share your video message on Facebook or send as a private message. The “Eye Want You” Application is both iPad and iPhone friendly and will grow to 60 video clips by 2011. This new application follows the successful launch of previous Facebook Applications such as
Gucci Guilty (an application dedicated to the launch of the House’s newest fragrance, including exclusives such as videos, wallpaper, viral gifting, sampling). Cool huh?
