Her new album entitled Circus, sold more than half a million records during the course of a single week. Miss Spears is now the second biggest selling female artist of this year, bettering debut weeks by Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Madonna, Janet Jackson and Miley Cyrus. Nobody could have predicted the phenomenal success of Britney's Womanizer, which received 286,000 legal downloads, the biggest digital sales debut by a female artist. 'Imagine a year ago, did anyone think that today she would be able to come out with an album that would, not only just debut at No. 1, but also do half a million copies in its first week?' asks Billboard Senior Chart Manager Keith Caulfield. 'It's surprising, but at the same time it's got to be pretty satisfying for Britney and for her record label.' In other Britney news, it's been revealed that Britney's camp have requested that all her back up dancers are to be drug tested in an attempt to keep the pop princess away from negative influences. A source told E! News, 'They all had to be drug-tested and, if they didn't pass, they were fired,' 'I think they only do it for her because she is under strict watch. I think they just want good influences around her,' adding that drug testing dancers is not a common practice.
