Despite her recent success Cheryl's never forgotten her Geordie roots, nor has she forgotten her substance abusing brother, Andrew Tweedy.
Andrew Tweedy, 28, last saw his sister 2 months ago, and says despite all the unwanted attention Cheryl visited him at Acklington Jail in Northumberland last Christmas where he'd been serving a four year sentence for mugging a teenager before his early release.
The 28 year old has spent a third of his life in prison yet he snubbed Cheryl's offer to pay for rehab, he says,
'Cheryl wants to help me but I'm too far gone. I know I'm breaking her heart, but I'm not strong enough to sort myself out. I watch Cheryl on TV and think: 'Your life is so different to the one you left behind.'
'She tells me I should be inspired by what she's done and that I can turn my back on booze and violence. Instead, like a fool, I go back to the drink and the glue.'
It's been reported that Andrew will be appearing in court again this week on charges of interfering with a motor vehicle, failure to surrender to arrest, as well as assault and possession of a prohibited weapon.
There's no helping some people.
