This week saw the film premiere of dark comedy 'Burn After Reading' open the Venice film festival, and we have all the pictures and information to make you feel as though you were there on the red carpet. The film is directed by the Coen brothers, directors of academy award winning 'No Country For Old Men'. The story is set in Washington DC with Osborne Cox (John Malkovich) working as a mid level analyst who's sacked from his job due to his heavy drinking. His wife (Tilda Swinton) is having an affair with Harry Pfarrer (George Clooney), a married federal marshal with a huge sex drive. Cox's professional and personal life start to meet, and employees of a local fitness centre obtain Cox's memoires which are filled of classified information. They then try to black mail him and it's then that one misunderstanding turns into another and chaos ensues.

The film is 1 of 21 films competing for the coveted Golden Lion at the festival, which runs through into September, and is a sample of world cinema. 'Burn After Reading' is the third time actor George Clooney (above right) has worked with the Coen brothers, he's worked with them previously in 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' and 'Intolerable Cruelty'.
Brad Pitt (above left) picked up an award he also won last year, the best actors prize for his role in 'The Assassination of Jesse James'.
