Thursday 21st August 2008 saw the star studded 23rd Annual IMAGEN Awards held at the Beverly Hills Hilton hotel. Established in 1985, The IMAGEN Awards acknowledge Hispanics (Spanish talking people) contributions to the entertainment industry, broken up into 18 categories.

Award winners included 'Ugly Betty' taking home best prime-time program; Dog Whisperer Ceaser Millan (above middle) took home an award for best reality show; 'Mind of Mencia' star Carlos Mencia won best actor; 'Snowglobe' star and singer Christina Milian was awarded best actress; 'Heroes' co-star Dania Ramirez received best supporting actress (middle below).

The real winner of the ceremony was Tony Plana, who was awarded best supporting actor for his supporting role as Betty Suarez's father in best prime-time program 'Ugly Betty'. The 54 year old Cuban-American actor who also starred in the 'Three Amigos!' and 'An Officer and Gentleman' before he landed his role in 'Ugly Betty' was honoured with a well deserved Lifetime Achievement Award.
